This past Sunday was Mother's Day. I couldn't really sleep in due to 9am church but Jason did take care of breakfast for everyone, which was nice. During sacrament meeting the kids sang a song to their mothers. It was really cute. Brendan was behind a little boy who kept acting out and kept giving the boy dirty looks. Eva sang her heart out and Darby kept swaying a little dance off to the side. We were given chocolates after the meeting and I got to sit with some of my favorite people during Relief Society (the men took over in Primary so they could come).
As we exited church Paige gave me my gift from nursery. Apparently she had eaten the chocolate kiss from the flower when they handed it to her so the nursery leader laughed and gave her another for me. Darby gave me this cute handprint. It says, "I love how pretty my mom looks and how nice she is". Awwwww.
Jason gave me my gifts at home. He got me a new blender (digital, high powered, very techie - that's so him), a measuring tape (I have been needing one) and a movie. He also made dinner upon my request. Blueberry Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast. Oh YUM!!!!
Brendan and Eva had made things for me at school and gave them to me later. Eva's cute flower poem and award are so sweet. The award is for "cleaning the house and mopping the floor and giving me hugs and kisses". I love trying to decipher her kindergarten phonetic writing. Its adorable now and I bet I will miss it as she grows up.

As for Brendan, he is so unceremonious. Because I know him, and know he loves me, I can laugh at it. He is just not sentimental at all. He made me a hand print flower where they wrote one adjective about their moms on each finger. He wrote, "tired, serious, hard working, important and loving." Hahaha! In another questionnaire he filled out about me, he wrote that the thing I liked best was to "have peace." He is so precise in his thinking that he was actually correct about my height and age (Eva said I was 44 years old and 60 lbs). But the gift that meant the most to me was this book that his teacher compiled of their writings throughout the school year. The front part was all about me and his father and the rest was a peek into his world through his writing. I cannot wait to sit down and read it all.
I called my mom and had a great chat after the kids were in bed. Jason took over much of my "duties" that day and it was quite relaxing. I even got in a short nap.
Being a mom is something I always knew I wanted to be but never fully comprehended what it would mean. I learn so much about myself from my kiddos. I often feel inadequate but I think that's part of the journey. I love Brendan, Eva, Darby and Paige immeasurably. Motherhood is SO worth any sacrifice!
