Good thing it's bath night.

Derby car bonding
Jason's friend, Shawn, had 2 extra pinewood derby car kits from when he was a scout leader before they moved. We went over to their house on Memorial Day and the fathers and sons tinkered in the wood shop the whole time.
Brendan and Jason designed a truck. Shawn has a Dremel tool and Jason, being experienced with high speed small drills (ahem, dentist) he made some awesome detail work on it. They want to add a windshield too. Brendan named it Dynamite. It was lots of fun for all involved.

Daddy's home
Jason came home after midnight on Wednesday. We've been having family fun time ever since. Lots of exploring, food, playing, movies and, of course, storytime.

Double dental
The middle two had dentist appointments today. I just love our pediatric dentist, Dr. Dodds. She's been a dentist for over 20 years and she's great with the kids. They both got clean bills of health for their mouths but crowding is an issue for them. We are looking at braces for them in the future, which we suspected.
Dr. Dodds gave them new toothbrushes and stickers. She even gave them masks so they could play tooth doctor at home. They love going to the dentist.

More Paige
Because I just couldn't help it. Her cute face makes me so happy.
On a related note, her 15 month checkup was today. She passed with flying colors. Weight is good, height is tall, development is above average, and health is great. The doctor kept commenting on how easy she was as she just sat there when the pediatrician checked eyes and nose and everything. My kids are pretty good patients and for that I am grateful.
Then came shot time. I fed Paige a goldfish cracker just as the nurse put the needle in. She was so distracted that she looked confused but didn't cry. I don't think it would have worried if there was a second shot but I'm glad it did for one.
Despite her cuteness and easy going nature, she is also naughty. She is SO busy. Lately I caught her pulling up a stool to mess with the doorknob. I thought I had at least a few more months before I had to worry about her use of "tools".
New Glasses
Here are Eva's new glasses. I like them better than her old ones. Now I need some new sassy ones for myself.
Going to an optical shop without Paige in the stroller was a bad idea. Between her and Darby I think they took down every pair displayed under three feet.
A Beautiful Day
It was a great day for bubbles and play cars and chalkboard art.
And then some chill time with water and SuperWhy. Summer's around the corner.

Eva's eyes
Eva's optometrist is a family friend. Jason got a text from him reminding us that her annual exam is due. Pretty cool, huh? And we were able to get in to see him a few days later.
She is a model patient, always has been. She did cry before they put in the dilation drops because she heard the nurse say that her eyes would be dilated for about 8 hours afterwards (she didn't know what dilate means and it sounded scary). After some explanation she was fine.
At the end of it all, Chad (our optometrist friend) explained that she needed a new prescription, stronger this time. She is far sighted and had a pretty hefty prescription besides (something about the back of her eyeball being much smaller than the front so in an effort to focus her eyes turn inward). He said she's likely to have glasses her whole life. Contacts are an option too but she'll never have good eyesight. It's really okay though. She likes her glasses. She thoroughly enjoyed picking out new ones, with stars this time. Darby really wants some too but it's more of a fashion statement and I doubt she'd wear them if she HAD to. We pick Eva's new glasses up next week.
Summer style
Eva had hair down to the small of her back. Her hair is like mine, thick and super straight. She doesn't like to brush it or have it styled (she will let me braid it sometimes). I have been suggesting a haircut for months but she always said no. Then I brought up how she could donate her hair through Locks of Love for little girls who don't have hair. Well, she is a very kind girl and the thought of being able to help changed her mind. She agreed and was actually excited about it. I took her to the stylist yesterday. Here she is after cutting off 10 inches. She LOVES it and I think she looks adorable. I am proud of her for helping others.

Daddy's Girls
These girls ADORE their Daddy! And I hope they always will.
(By the way, if you need a laugh, read the reviews on the shirt Jason is wearing. It explains why he felt he HAD to buy one.)
15 Months
Paigey Poo is fifteen months old today. She is the icing on our family cake and a true youngest child. She loves people and is a hopeless flirt. She walks up to anyone in church and starts to play. In fact, there is a portion of our ward that is unaware she is even ours, as we are rarely holding her in church.
She is also pretty good sharer. Must be all the practice with three older siblings. And she ADORES Brendan (and that makes him so happy).
She walks everywhere now and is quite fast. The bad news is that she is a climber. I've never had a climber like this. I have caught her on top of the table more times than I care to admit. She has come into the room to give me dangerous things she grabbed (from counters, shelves, beds, who knows). She has brought me scissors, permanent markers, the computer mouse, watch batteries . . . She definitely keep us on our toes.
Paige also has the best facial expressions. Her five little teeth make a great cheesy smile. She also has a version of duck face that cracks us up. I wish I could get a picture of it. Here's her "What are you talking about?" face.
She can race up Brendan's stairs if he doesn't close the door and likes the toilet (I wish the kids would close that door). She is a great eater and finally a good sleeper.
She is a perfect little caboose and I love her to pieces.
